Jo Barclay Loggie

Добавлен 23 авг 2018
My name is Jo Barclay Loggie and about 5 years into stringing gemstone jewellery, I found seed beads and I haven't looked back. I was managing a local bead shop teaching jewellery making workshops and writing detailed tutorials for national magazines when I was approached by a jewellery making television channel, where I was a guest designer for 2 years, doing live demonstrations on the telly, teaching workshops and filming DVD's.
Fast forward to a world of online technology and today I upload new beadie content to youtube regularly. There are tutorials on basic bead weaving stitches and techniques perfect for a beginner beader, but also complete projects - necklaces, bracelets and earrings - for those looking to advance their skills. I'm pretty quick at answering any questions you may have too - all you need to do is leave your questions in the comments for me to see.
I also sell PDF's on Etsy for those who prefer a step by step photographic and written pattern.

Beaded tape Measure Part 2
The much anticipated Part 2 of the Beaded Tape Measure Tutorials. In this tutorial, we take the 2 beaded rosettes that you created in Part 1:
ruclips.net/video/GnlMLre6Eoc/видео.html
And we join them together around the retractable tape measure to complete the project.
Materials used:
*2 x Beaded Rosettes (part 1)
*4mm Fire Polish Beads - "Siam"
*Miyuki 11/0 Seed Beads - *Opaque Dyed Turquoise - “A” (I chose to use colours from Part 1 so that the 2 parts were similar and the turquoise was colour "A" in Part 1)
- *Opaque Orange - “D” (Again - the orange was bead 'D" from Part 1)
*Miyuki 8/0 Seed Beads - "Duracoat S/L Salmon

Beaded Tape Measure Part 1 - Circular Square Stitch - Beaded Rosette
Просмотров 813Месяц назад
"MY TAKE" on a Beaded Rosette using circular square stitch and Part 1 of the Beaded Tape Measure Tutorial. You'll make 2 of these and they will form the top and bottom covers to your retractable tape measure. You can also use smaller versions of the beaded discs in pendants, earrings or they'd make fab coasters. I wanted to 'pretty-fy' a regular, plastic , retractable tape measure that I could ...
Twisted Tubular Herringbone with Crystal Bicones
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
A variation on twisted tubular herringbone - with pretty, spring coloured crystal bicones as accents spiralling around the outside of the tube. It's also a great way of mixing your gemstones in with your beadwork. We all know beadwork takes time and the simple addition of a couple of gemstones either end, cuts down on hours of beading! If you want to learn about regular tubular herringbone befo...

Never know how long to make a necklace or a bracelet? Well, this brief video will show you a technique that puts an end to those problems! Using a sliding knot to finish off your pieces means that you can adjust the length to suit multiple variations. It also means that if you're adding a leather cord to a pendant, you'll be able to wear the pendant as a short length one day and the next, you c...

I originally taught this one as a workshop but after a huge demand for tutorials using some of the fabulous shapes that available from your local bead shops, I decided to share it as youtube tutorial. The benefit of using some of these shapes is their size! If you sometimes find that bead weaving takes too long - this one beads up quickly because of the size of those beads! Explore some beautif...

Clover Shaped Beaded Pendant with Ginko and Seed Beads

Clover shaped Jewellery seems to be 'the in thing' at the moment and for me the Ginko Bead is the perfect shape to achieve my version of the clover shape! This is an incredibly quick and simple make using very few materials, but sometimes less is more and in this case, the reaction to the pendant has been super! You could easily make one for all your friends in an afternoon or over a weekend - ...
RIght Angle Weave with Bugles - Beaded Bracelet with Seed bEads and Bugles
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.6 месяцев назад
This is yet another mini master class in right angle weave. We've looked at right angle weave a number of times previously to this youtube video - but always with round beads. I love how the introduction of slender bugle beads has opened up the weave, giving it a 'lacy' feel. The bracelet is made using one length of thread working from the left to the right hand side - no pesky joining of motif...
Herringbone Stitch - Pearl Beaded Bracelet - "Melon Balls"
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.11 месяцев назад
An eye catching creation with very few 'ingredients' and the fact that you're using 8mm pearls in the design means that it all beads up pretty quickly! The saying 'less is more' really holds true for this design. And if you'd like some matching but slightly different earrings, just click the link below to the video: ruclips.net/video/hfSJuMUsysU/видео.html Materials to make a 7 inch bracelet: 7...

Spiral Tubular Peyote - Beaded Rope

This is a technique demo... Peyote is one of the first stitches we all learn as beaders and it's the perfect stitch to use to create a beaded rope from which you can hang a pendant should you so wish! Rock Pool Earrings - Bezelling an 8mm Crystal

The title given to these earrings was chosen by a couple of member in my 'beading tribe' - and the colours I used were so reminiscent of my days growing up living alongside the coast - it had to be! Hi Jo where can l get gadget l have trouble holding the beads
Afternoon…most bead shops stock them…and they’re in all sorts of shapes and sizes. You’re looking for a mandrel….x
@@JoBarclayLoggie thank you
That's fascinating! I have never seen something like that! I usually use 8mm and up beads so I'm not bothered with stringing, but looks like a gem! Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks for watching Kathy especially when it’s not even something you’d use!🤣 Happy beading with those beautifully big 8mm beads! x
It's also known as a Surgeon's Knot in the Boy Scout World. 😊
Good to know! Thank you! x
Brilliant! I've been looking into bead spinners and saw a lot of people frustrated with the learning curve and saying they break a lot of the curved needles that come with the kits while they're still learning. I think I'll use some of my extra jewelry wire like you demonstrated here while I'm figuring out the technique and then switch to the needles once I know what I'm doing.
I honestly did almost launch mine into outer space a number of times…but perseverance is key! Good Luck!! 🍀 x
are there othere sunburst patterns available?
Hi Ramona I’m not sure I understand your question? Are you asking if I’ve done other tape measure covers out something entirely different? x
@@JoBarclayLoggie yes asking if you have other starburst pattens avail w instructions
@ramonaeaglesmith3430 …this was my first, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last!😉So, to answer your question…not at the moment…x
What are your thoughts on using a wire guardian on your clasps?
I’m certainly not against using them-it’s a good idea! Finishing off a design is always a personal thing and I tend to use size 11/0’s up to and around the clasp when I’m attaching one…x
What size are your packet of beads please. I can’t only 20 g 😊
Thank you Jo! 🇿🇦❤
An absolute pleasure and I’m loving the 🇿🇦!! x
Very pretty and great tutorial ❤ 😊thank you so much 💓 😊 ❤
You’re welcome Mary!😊 Happy Beading! x
Another bracelet I love, thank you so much Ms Barclay - I made one watching your video right away with pearls. It is such a pretty (tennis) bracelet. I will make another as you suggest. I should have a little box with your name on it with all the beauties I create from your trainings. :)
Wow…that’s impressive, getting one made straight away! Thank you for your lovely comment-I can just picture a little box full of your treasures! 🤗xx
Selecting my colors and I’m excited about creating this project! Love this design.
That’s the most exciting part…choosing your colours! I can’t wait to see which combination you go with, so please tag me when you’re finished or pop a pic on my fb page Jo Barclay Loggie… Happy Beading…x
I love it, and it’s so on trend, much cheaper than the original clover designs too 😉 I can seem me making these for birthday and Christmas presents. Thank you so much for your tutorial ☺️ x
Oh I’m so pleased to read your comment this morning Theresa! 🤗 Happy Beading and I’m sure you’ll have many happy recipients! x
Jo, this is tge first time I’ve seen square stitch done circular. Thank you so much!
My absolute pleasure - I love that it’s something new for you! x
That was an awesome tut. I will be doing this for sure. TYFS❣
Yay-that’s awesome to hear! I wish you many happy hours beading! x
Was thinking might look nice on top of a box
Yes! Yes! Yes! Brilliant idea! x
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 lindo tutorial gracias, un abrazo desde Colombia
And you’re very welcome…I love hearing where everyone is! x

Greate job. Thanks for your sharing
Pleasure…glad you enjoyed it! x
Thank you for sharing . I think I will be able to accomplish it😊🇿🇦
I’m sure you can too! Happy Beading! x
Hello Jo im Donna and i trurly enjoy the way you explain when working with the seed beads. I get confused at times when your showing how the direction of the beads and string is suppose to go. Its like i am missing a important step.
Hi Donna…so pleased you’re enjoying the tutorials but sorry that you’re getting confused-that’s not good!😉 If you can let me know where it is that the confusion happens, I’ll do my best to explain it here…xx
I made one but all the 11 seed beads were different sizes. Yours all look the same looks great 😊
I would only ever use Miyuki (reputable brand) , size 11/0 Delica beads. They are chopped off too and bottom so not rounded and therefore stack beautifully like bricks…x
Thank you so much 😊
❤❤❤
❤❤
when I make jewelry using your tutorials......besides making for myself......is it permissable to sell what I make as long as I credit you as the designer? Thanks
That’s so good of you to ask… you are most welcome to sell your finished makes, crediting me as the designer-always good to check as not all designers are happy with this!🤗 Good Luck…x
Super cute! Tutorial pls?
m.ruclips.net/video/eL8Vu34X23E/видео.html There you go…Happy Beading! x
Some kind advice: GOT to stay in camera. It can get confusing what is happening, when you go out of camera. Otherwise, very nice video and lovely design
Thank you for the saying things kindly. I really do try my best to stay in shot - but sometimes the inevitable happens! Normally I catch myself doing it and correct things - however; it sounds like I didn't manage that in this one! I can only apologise and 'try and do better'! ;-) x
How do you figure how many beads you would need for this necklace?
That's tricky to answer - a bit like how long is a piece of string? Everyone is going to make their necklaces to differing lengths, depending on the personal preferences. However, if you have a tube of each colour (over here they sell them in 22grm tubes), you'll have plenty...x
@@JoBarclayLoggie thank you!!
Beautifu!l work you are a great teacher! Thank you, love your designs!💗
Thank you so much Martha and you are so very welcome! x
omg ur pretty
Thank you! You made that very clear!
You're welcome! xx

❤❤❤
Good layout on mat, no music, clear enunciation, slow pace of speech, no rings on hands AND a piece that can be made for day or for night. I'm not sure I can work with the long length of line but I'm going to give it a try. Thank you. Subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed it! Sorry, been "missing in action' from youtube for a few weeks. Always work with a length of thread that you're comfortable using - adding in thread isn't as scary as some would have you believe! ;-) x
Beautiful 🎉🙏👍
Glad you like it! x
Love it, you explain it so well and clear. Thanks
So pleased you found the tutorial easy to follow! Happy Beading…x
Desde el principio no se ve bien por cual cuenta introduciste la aguja
OMG, thank you so much because I stayed like for a week trying to do what I was not working now it works
🤣🤣🤣Soooooo pleased you got it sorted! x

I loved watching this video. You are an exceptional teacher, thank you 😊
You are so welcome Vicky! I'm pleased that my teaching style makes sense to you! x
Sometimes you go through the 11/0 and sometimes you don't. That part is a bit unclear, but otherwise the instructions are very good. This is such a pretty design with lovely colors. Thanks!
Hmmm... sorry about that Gale...I don't EVER mean to cause any confusion at all - I'll have a re-watch and see what is unclear...x
I've had another look - and I'm not sure where you mean...whenever you're adding a new section of right angle weave, you're exiting a fire polish bead and then moving one, you move through your beads to your next connection point - if that involves moving through an 11/0, then you should otherwise thread will show outside of the design....x
شكرا رائع
شكرا رائع
I’m a little confused. Because the jewelry I makes is with either a plastic string or wire string so I’m confusing how you would get beads on something like that? Or does this only work for a wire?
Hi Tammie - no it doesn't only work with wire but as I mentioned that's what I use it for, when I'm making french beaded flowers - so that is what I was demonstrating. Most of them do come with a needle - check the box before you buy - and you'll be able to thread your chosen beading thread onto that before wildly spinning and stringing your beads! ;-) x
I made three for my daughter for her birthday this month. I love them and I wanted her to wear them as stakes. Thank you for a simple but elegant design. ❤❤
Wow! You've been busy Sheila and they're dainty enough to make perfect stacker bracelets - what a super idea! x
Hi, how can I add thread to my work?
The easiest place to add in thread would be though the right angle weave...so through your base. With about 15cms of thread to go, weave away through the sides, tops and bottoms passing through beads at all times and when you start a new thread, you would weave it in through a few rounds of right angle weave before exiting the point at which you stopped beading with the old piece of thread....x
Great tutorial. Thank you!
You're very welcome! x
Hi :) This Is TOHO 8 or Toho 11 ? :)

@@katarzynaadamczyk8881 Dziękuję :-) Thank You 😊
This one is done in 8/0's but you could make the same bangle in 11/0's - it would just be slightly narrower...x
